WSC Sports Wins ‘Best in AI’ Award at SBJ’s Sports Business Awards Tech

We’re thrilled to announce that WSC Sports has won the ‘Best in AI’ award at the second annual Sports Business Awards: Tech ceremony held in New York City. This year marked the first time the ‘Best in AI’ category was introduced to the awards, so it’s especially meaningful for us that WSC Sports was the first company to win it.

Sports Business Awards: Tech is run by Sports Business Journal and recognizes the companies that have fueled the most significant technological advancements in the sports industry over the past year—ranging from categories like ‘Best in AI’ to ‘Best in Fan Experience Technology’.

In 2023 we welcomed over 150 new teams, leagues, federations, broadcasters, OTT platforms, and other sports media rights holders to our client list, taking us over 450 clients globally. In total, these rights holders used our platform to create over six million videos last year, which means that every five seconds.

But WSC Sports wasn’t recognized by the judges simply for securing new business and for helping rights holders create content at speed and scale. A key part of this award was given for WSC Sports’ ability to automatically tailor content to cater to each and every type of fan on whatever platform they’re using. In particular, WSC Sports has been instrumental in helping clients connect to new generations of fans, by automatically cropping video highlights into a vertical 9:16 ratio, a format proven to drive engagement with Gen Z and younger audiences.

Congratulations to the other winners on the night and a special shoutout to our friends at Golf+ with the PGA Tour (Best in Extended Reality), the MLS and Apple (Technology Collaboration of the Year) and the NHL’s SVP, Business Development & Global Partnerships, David Lehanski (Technology Executive of the Year).

Lehanski was a guest on the WSC Sports Podcast, Sports Content Kings, earlier in 2023. In the episode, ‘Innovation Around Hockey Viewership and Fandom’ Lehanski discusses the impact of technology in modern sports with show hosts, Aviv and Shaka Arnon, WSC Sports’ Co-Founder and CBDO, and VP of Business Development, respectively.

Winners in each category from the Sports Business Awards: Tech will compete for the award of ‘Best in Sports Technology’, to be announced at the Sports Business Awards ceremony on May 22 in New York City.

It’s not just WSC Sports’ technology that received praise on the night, WSC Sports also featured on SBJ’s list as one of the Best Places to Work in Sports for 2024. If you haven’t already be sure to check out our many open positions here
