WSC Sports in 2022: Growth, Awards, Parties & More!

Our AI platform is busy all year round creating highlights for our clients (in fact last year more than 4 million were created!), but here’s some of our own key company highlights from 2022.

From securing new big business, enabling new viewing experiences, picking up industry awards, growing our headcount significantly and hosting some truly memorable events, last year had it all.

Let’s start at the beginning. The year kicked off with some extremely important news on the business front. We raised a new round of funding ($100m) led by ION Crossover Partners, the perfect way to kickstart our ambitious goals for the year for growing as a company in pretty much every possible way.

On the business front, we expanded all around the world, entering new markets and doubling down in others. A great example of this is our takeover of European soccer, with exciting names such as La Liga and Serie A joining our ever-expanding list of soccer leagues, teams and broadcasters in the region. In fact over 100 new clients from all over the world joined us in 2022.

Speaking of soccer we can’t forget last year’s World Cup! During the month-long tournament the WSC Sports platform was used by more than 20 rights holders to create more than 30,000 highlights!

Putting the business aside for a minute, let’s take a moment to reflect on our internal growth. We’ve now reached nearly 400 employees, adding new offices in China and Japan, building on our existing presences in London, New York, Sydney and Tel Aviv.

For the first time in forever (thanks Covid) in 2022 we were able to organize a global meetup and all have fun together as a company! And when WSC Sports gets the chance to put on a company trip, we go all out. Check out the highlights from our two days in the sun here

On the subject of events, we proudly hosted numerous meetups for clients, and others from the sports and technology community, in Brazil, across the USA, Israel and in the UK. It’s always great to reconnect with friends and familiar faces in the industry, meet new people and share what we’ve been up to, but also hear and learn from others – so look out for us in 2023, we’d love to connect.

Knowing you’re doing a good job is always nice to hear and what better way than to receive industry recognition for our efforts in transforming the way content is created and consumed. 2022 was another successful year on that front. We won the Sports Technology Award for Best Technology for Communications and Storytelling for an entry we submitted with our partner DAZN.

We also, for the first time ever, entered the Sports Emmys, and were shortlisted finalists, in a joint entry along with PGA TOUR for our work together on Every Shot Live, and we won the Silver award at the SportsPro OTT Awards also with PGA TOUR!

To top it off WSC Sports was ranked as the 16th most influential global sports technology company, jumping up 33 places from 2021, in the Sports Technology Power List. Not bad eh?

There’s so much more from 2022 that we could have included, but this gives you a taste of who we are, what we achieved and where we’re headed.
