TV2 Norway Announces Technology Partnership With WSC Sports to Enhance Coverage of 2022 FIFA World Cup

“Football is the most popular sport in Norway, and as the country’s leading football broadcaster we’re extremely happy to partner with WSC Sports to deliver all of the amazing plays from the World Cup to our viewers,” Kristoffer Iversen, Head of Editorial Development, TV2 Norway.

In anticipation of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, TV2 Norway, Norway’s leading sports broadcaster, collaborated with WSC Sports, the global leader in AI-powered video content, to deliver automated, real-time highlights to Norwegian football fans throughout the entire tournament.

Part of the agreement includes the use of WSC Stories—vertical video highlights that are automatically published to Google OneBox, located at the top of Google Search results. The Stories are being delivered as the action unfolds on the pitch, so Norwegian fans searching for World Cup news and updates have instant access to tournament highlights in real-time, with a ‘stories’ experience reminiscent of social media.

TV2 Norway will also use Stories to direct fans toward their paid app, TV2 Play, a new, innovative way for them to register new subscribers and engage with younger audiences on mobile.

In addition to utilizing WSC Stories, the broadcaster will also use WSC Sports’ AI platform to distribute short and long-form videos from every World Cup game to its social media pages and OTT streaming service.

The partnership ensures that Norwegian football fans will have more coverage of the world’s biggest sporting event than ever before.

“I am thrilled about this partnership and to help TV2 Norway deliver more World Cup action to their viewers. Norwegian fans are crazy about football and I hope that all of the highlights will keep them entertained during the tournament when a lot of people are at home keeping cozy during the cold winter,” said Ido Ratzon, Business Development, EMEA, at WSC Sports.
